  • 3 Year Musical Theatre Course

The demand on the performer is ever increasing as the performance Industry grows. There is a great need for Musical Theatre students who have been well trained in dance, singing and acting. We aim to help you achieve this. The stage is continually dominated by musicals.

The Academy offers professional training from teachers who have and still are performing professionally. The emphasis is put on all disciplines equally to make you the all round performer.  The full time Musical Theatre course is full time and intensive. At the end of the the 3 years each graduate will have achieved a balanced and complete all round training and be ready to go out and perform professionally with confidence and a style of their own.

All the different pathways that EPA offers all are underpinned by our Expressions Performing Arts diploma which will be gained by any student who takes the course.  Throughout the course students will gain training in the following disciplines :- Commercial Jazz, Technical Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, Pas de deux, Partner Work, Body Conditioning, Pilates, Musical Theatre, Singing, Ensemble, Solo and Duet/Trio work, Music Theory, Acting for Theatre and Film and TV.    Some classes are streamed in abilities to maximise individual developments.  Class sizes are kept small to enable individual tuition.

Practical Assessments are carried out twice yearly and are a vital part of the course. Assessments are part of Individual Learning Plans which give the students one to one support, guidance and advice.

In addition we offer the following courses which run in conjunction with the above to offer a 36 hour training week.

Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre)

This course is especially geared towards 16-18 year old students who have just left school.  The course is 16 hours per week and this part of the course is funded through ESFA funding.   However, due to the strict regimes in the Performing Arts we feel we cannot get a student "Industry ready" in 16 hours per week therefore we offer a total of 36 hours per week of training. Therefore you will receive the Btec extended diploma as well as the 36 hours training per week to make you Industry ready after graduation. The Btec students progress after 2 years onto the HNC programme (Level 4) with is offered in association with www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk

HNC/HND Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) - Higher Education courses - Age 18 plus.

This course is geared towards 18 plus students who have already completed a Level 3 qualification such as Btec qualification, UAL or A Levels.  We work with our preferred provider www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk, to offer progression opportunities to study this higher level 4/5 programme with them. The course can be fully funded by the Student Loan Company (Student Finance England) www.gov.uk/studentfinance (Subject to eligibility).

However, due to the strict regimes in the Performing Arts we also enhance professional Industry skills by providing additional access to our own studios for HNC/D students to enhance and develop their professional practice.  This provides students with significant work experience that reflects the level of intensity required to compete successfully in the Industry.
